A Romanian court on Tuesday found “irregularities” in the indictment of controversial influencer Andrew Tate on charges of human trafficking and rape, a development that could derail the case.
The court ruled to exclude part of the evidence and gave prosecutors five days to decide whether to proceed with the trial or have the case returned.
It should be noted that Tate was indicted in mid-2023 alongside his brother Tristan and two Romanian women, facing charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal group to exploit women sexually—allegations they have denied. The brothers were initially arrested at their home in Bucharest in December and later moved to house arrest in March.
According to the original indictment, the four defendants allegedly formed an organized criminal group in 2021 to engage in human trafficking in Romania, as well as in other countries, including the US and the UK.
The indictment cites seven victims, who it claims were recruited by the Tate brothers through false promises of love and marriage.
