Importance of calmness

Politics is a complex and challenging domain that demands a high level of statesmanship, diplomacy, and mutual respect. However, it is unfortunate that most politicians fail to adhere to these principles, especially when it comes to understanding each other’s perspectives and respecting the opposition. This is particularly evident in the context of Pakistani politics, where politicians often prioritize their personal agendas over the nation’s interests.

The recent statement issued by the current government of Pakistan, which suggests that they do not want to sit in opposition, is a clear example of this attitude. The statement reflects the government’s obsession with power and control rather than a genuine commitment to serving the people. Such a myopic approach is detrimental to the democratic process and undermines the very foundations of a representative government.

Moreover, the remarks made by Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s role in polarizing politics in the country, are equally disturbing. While it is important to hold leaders accountable for their actions, such accusatory statements only serve to deepen the existing divides and further polarize the nation. It is essential for politicians to recognize that they are elected representatives of the people and should, therefore, prioritize the nation’s interests over their own political ambitions.

The statements made by Rana Sanaullah regarding the government’s willingness to go to any extent if their existence is threatened, and holding Imran Khan responsible for everything, are particularly alarming. Such language not only reflects a disregard for the rule of law but also undermines the democratic norms that Pakistanis have fought so hard to establish.

It is crucial for the government to understand that they have a responsibility to uphold the rule of law and serve the people, regardless of their political affiliation. The opposition has a crucial role to play in a democracy as they provide checks and balances to the ruling party. Therefore, it is imperative that the government works towards building bridges with the opposition rather than creating further divisions.

The recent statements made by the ruling party in Pakistan are concerning and reflect a disregard for the democratic principles that are the cornerstone of a functioning government. It is time for politicians to put the interests of the nation first and work towards building a more inclusive and united Pakistan.
