Days after a suicide attack in a mosque in the Peshawar Police Lines killed over 100 people, Pakistan on Thursday asked Taliban-led interim Afghan government for sincere cooperation to address the challenge of terrorism.
In a weekly press briefing, Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch hoped that Afghanistan will live up its commitments made with the international community and Pakistan in Doha pact that no one will be allowed to use the soil of Afghanistan against any country.
Beside Doha pact, After Taliban came in power they had announced again and again that they would not allow anyone to use Afghan soil against any country anymore, but so far, Taliban have done nothing practically to stop using of their soil against other country particularly against Pakistan. And evidence of this is that after Taliban ‘conquered’ Kabul, Pakistan has witnessed a surge of terrorist activities of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
It is a bitter truth that TTP’s terrorists not only have safe havens in Afghanistan but also enjoy full support of Taliban government. Due to having soft corner for TTP terrorists, Taliban government is not taking any complaint of Pakistan against them seriously.
Terrorism is a common threat to both Pakistan and Afghanistan and there is a need to stand united against the menace. Taliban should realize this point and should not allow its territory to be used for perpetrating terrorism against Pakistan anymore.
