KARACHI: Sindh High Court has issued notices to the provincial government and others over petition seeking to quash cases registered against PTI Senator Azam Swati across the province. Moreover, the court also sought a written report of the cases filed against the ailing Swati.

The Court picked up petition, filed by Azam Swati’s son Usman Swati who sought to quash cases registered against his ailing father over a single incident.

During the course of hearing today, Justice K K Agha asked about the whereabout of Azam Swati, who had been nominated in the FIRs. Responding to this, Advocate Anwar Mansoor Khan said Swati was under arrest and shifted to Quetta, and that all of the cases registered against him were based on the same issue. He further told the court that the registration of multiple FIRs on single incident was in violation of the Supreme Court’s judgements.
Advocate Anwar Mansoor Khan told the court that five cases were registered against Azam Swati in Karachi, and one in Qambar.

After hearing the details, SHC issued notices to the provincial government, Prosecutor General and IG Sindh, ordering relevant SSPs to submit report latest by December 22.
