ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear another contempt of court petition against Special Advisor to PM on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan in the axle load reference.

A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will conduct hearing of the petition moved by a private company through Muhammad Awais.

In the petition, lawyer Arif Chaudhry contested that under the [National Highway Safety] Ordinance 2000, the court has already issued a stay order.
The stay order stated that the court had directed the communications ministry to fully execute on the law of axle load and the main case related to this was still pending.

The petition further stated that it is requested to the court that on violation of court orders contempt of court proceedings be initiated against Firdous.
The petition also stated that roads are affected because of overweight transportation made by manufacturers at low fares.

Firdous Awan is already facing contempt proceedings in the IHC in connection with her alleged contemptuous remarks related to ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s case and the IHC chief justice has reserved the decision after they tendered unconditional apologies.
