RAWALPINDI: The Head of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed has expressed hope that a certain meeting which took place in Rawalpindi recently, would prove to be a welcome news for Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, he alleged that the federal government has brought the country to the verge of economic and political bankruptcy, and in his opinion, the final political round would take place within next 10 days, while November could prove to be the decisive one.
Sheikh Rashid said efforts were underway to bring PTI, AML and allies back to the parliament so that a deal about reversing the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif could be reached. He said one of the two things, Long March or general elections, would definitely take place. He further said that if an assembly lacks respect, [electoral] turnout remains low.
He said state institutions should stand by the weaker and oppressed class of the society, and not with the stronger ones.
Criticizing recent amendments made in the accountability laws, Sheikh Rashid said there left only 4 accountability courts with 3 pending cases.
Turning to the economic front, Sheikh Rashid claimed that the Finance Minister Ishaq failed to get anything significant from the IMF and the world community, and the government neither had dollars, nor enough money to pay salaries to its employees.
He said after recent power crisis across the country, nation was set to experience the crisis of gas shortages in winter.
Earlier, in an interview, Sheikh Rasheed said that despite financial crunch, there were some 77 ministers in the federal cabinet, out of whom 20 were without portfolios.
Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that the business community was facing problems in the country.
