Nawaz Sharif to leave for London tomorrow: Shehbaz

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif reacted to the decision of the Lahore High Court to remove former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List without any conditions for four weeks.

Speaking to media after the court orders, Shehbaz thanked the nation and his lawyers after the LHC issued directives to the government to allow the former premier to seek medical treatment abroad.

The PML-N President said the high court has allowed Nawaz to go abroad without the government’s conditions.  He said that he hoped the former prime minister would recover soon from his illness and return to Pakistan.

“The high court has allowed Nawaz to go abroad without the government’s conditions. The delay which was created as a result of the government’s decision has been ended today by the court’s verdict,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif said that an air ambulance will take Nawaz to London most likely tomorrow. He added that he will be accompanying his elder brother, and if needed will stay there.

“Initially, we are going to London but we will move to any other country as per doctors’ advice,” he said, adding that Maryam Nawaz will remain in the country.

Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb in a statement said that arrangements were being made on emergency basis to shift Nawaz Sharif abroad for medical treatment.

She said that doctors needed 48 hours to stabilise Nawaz Sharif for a long journey. She said doctors are taking measures to avoid heart problems or other complications during the journey.

The PML-N leader criticised the government for creating hurdles in Nawaz Sharif’s medical treatment without any justification.
