ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the Nawaz Sharif’s health is a humanitarian matter and should not be made a political and legal issue.
Addressing a news conference along with Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan, she said Prime Minister Imran Khan created the facility of medical board for Nawaz Sharif with sincerity.
She said the prime minister directed the spokesmen of the government not to give any political statement on the health of Nawaz Sharif., and facilitated the former premier at every level.
Speaking on the occasion, Attorney General said some legal points involved in this issue are crucial, as the NAB law clearly states that the sentence of a convict could not be suspended or bailed.
He said the federal government said there should be surety for going abroad when the issue came into the court. He said Nawaz Sharif has a precedent of not abiding by the undertakings made in the past. He added that the court has not rejected the government’s position on indemnity bond.

Talking to a private TV Channel, she said the government never did politics regarding health of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. She said the court gave relief to an ailing person and not the PML-N.
She said that the government views the Lahore High Court’s decision with respect and would give a response once the court issued its detailed verdict on the matter.
She further said that the government’s narrative was not based on ill intentions. She said that the decision of the LHC could not be taken as a victory for one side or defeat of another.
Dr Awan said the government will give any response after the court issued its detailed verdict on the matter.
Meanwhile, talking to a private TV channel, Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan says Nawaz Sharif can proceed abroad by showing the attested copy of court order to immigration authorities.
He said the extension in permission can be granted on various conditions.He said court will be contacted for extension in permission. Similarly, an extension in stay abroad can also be obtained on submitting the money or bond.
Anwar Mansoor said he will only be in a position to advise the government after seeing the written verdict.
PTI Senator Faisal Javed has said that Nawaz Sharif is being allowed to proceed abroad on humanitarian grounds.
Talking to state-owned channel, he said the cabinet made the decision due to serious medical condition of PML-N leader. He said the PML-N did politics on the health of Nawaz Sharif which wasted time.
The Senator said PTI has always respected the court decisions, and it is government’s prerogative to remove the name of any person from ECL.
