KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to senior director coordination of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Masood Alam till Nov 29. An SHC bench restrained NAB and FIA from arresting the official with alleged charges of corruption.

Masood Alam through his lawyer stated before the bench that he arrived at the Karachi airport accompanying Mayor Wasim Akhtar to board a flight to Denmark. The visit was intended to attend a four-day World Mayors’ Conference on Climate Change.
He was stopped from flying out of the country by immigration staff at the airport for his name being on FIA’s black list.

The petitioner apprehended that the corruption watchdog could entail him in the legal suit related to alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of fire tenders and appealed that it must be constrained from detaining him.

Earlier, NAB had arrested former DG Parks and Horticulture Liaquat Qaimkhani and seized eight luxury vehicles, weapons, property files, jewellery and official record of the KMC from his residence in Karachi.
