LAHORE: Departure of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to London has delayed as his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) could not be removed yet.
Nawaz Sharif was scheduled to leave for London via Qatar Airways’s commercial flight QR-629 today. However, his departure has been delayed until his name would be removed from the ECL.
Nawaz was earlier allowed to travel abroad for medical treatment by the federal government. However, his name has still not been taken off the ECL.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has still not decided regarding the name of Nawaz Sharif being removed from the ECL.
NAB chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal has summoned a key meeting in this regard. The session will review the letter of interior ministry about the removal of Nawaz’s name from the ECL.
Earlier in October, the Islamabad High Court granted bail to Nawaz in the Al-Azizia corruption reference, suspending his sentence for eight weeks on medical grounds.
