LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has conducted a hearing on the issue of increasing environmental pollution in the city.
Justice Shahid Kareem in a hearing heard the petition filed by Haroon Farooq on the same issue.
Justice Shahid Kareem said that air pollution has increased at an alarming rate in Lahore.
He added, “It seems like environmental pollution will get worse in the coming days.”

Justice Shahid Kareem said that emergency steps were needed to control environmental pollution.
According to the court’s interim written order, the Director-General (DG) environment has termed the burning of crops major reason for smog in Lahore.

Court added that according to an international agency, Lahore was declared the most polluted city.
The court was told that the old brick kiln technology was supposed to be closed from 1st November.
The old brick kiln technology is a process where bricks are baked or burned underneath the fuel.
According to rankings released by the World Air Quality Index (AQI), Lahore ranked second in terms of air pollution and Karachi was ranked 7th on the list.
