90s hits Gangsta’s Paradise and Fantastic Voyage rapper Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr, has died at 59.
Jarez Posey, manager to the Grammy-winning rapper, first shared news of Coolio’s death with TMZ, saying the musician had gone into the bathroom at a friend’s house and was later found on the floor unresponsive.
What happened to Coolio?
Coolio’s longtime manager, Jarez, shared that the rapper was visiting a friend when he reportedly went to use the restroom and never came out.
The friend eventually went to check on him and found him on the floor. An official cause of death has not yet been released.

The award-winning rapper, who was among hip-hop’s biggest names during the 1990s, was partly right. “Gangsta’s Paradise” endures as one of the most-listened songs, racking up over 1 billion plays on both YouTube and Spotify earlier this year.

Coolio had been touring ever since its release at age 59, he was scheduled to play in Stuttgart, Germany, on Saturday. However on Wednesday afternoon, the artist unexpectedly fell dead at a friend’s Los Angeles home, his manager confirmed.
