ISLAMABAD: At least eight more people have lost their lives in Pakistan due to the coronavirus, taking the total death toll to 6,588.
According to the National Command and Operations Center, 531 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of victims to 319,848.
In Pakistan, 34,609 patients have recovered from the coronavirus and the number of patients under treatment has dropped to 8,651.
The coronavirus has killed 2,264 people in Punjab and 2,556 in Sindh. The death toll in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 1,264, in Islamabad 189, in Balochistan 146, in Gilgit-Baltistan 91 and in Azad Kashmir 78.

The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad has risen to 17,428. One lakh 892 cases have been reported in Punjab, one lakh 40 thousand 534 in Sindh, 38 thousand 367 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 thousand 541 in Balochistan, 3 thousand 955 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 3 thousand 131 in Azad Kashmir.
There are facilities for coronavirus patients in 735 hospitals in Pakistan and the number of ventilators for coronavirus patients in hospitals is 1,920. There are 132 testing laboratories operating in the country and trace, test, and quarantine strategies are working effectively in several cities.
