SUKKUR: At least five people were dead and 13 others were injured on Tuesday when a passenger bus overturned in Ghotki.
The ill-fated passenger bus was coming to Karachi from Azad Jammu and Kashmir when it turned turtle on Sukkur-Multan Motorway near Point 89.
Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies and injured to the Rahim Yar Khan hospital. Police said the victims are residents of different areas of Sindh and Punjab. However, their identities could not be ascertained.
In another incident, one person lost his life and three others were critically wounded in a road accident in Chishtian late on Monday night.
According to details, the accident occurred at Qaziwala Road where a passenger bus hit a car and motorcycle due to over-speeding, killing a man on the spot and injuring three others. Rescue teams reached the spot after being informed and shifted the dead and injured to hospital.
In a recent similar incident on Monday, at least six people were killed while 30 others were injured when a passenger bus skidded off a bridge in Khanewal.
The incident took place near Pull Rango when a bus on its way from Lahore to Multan met an accident. The driver of the vehicle lost control while trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle, due to which the bus overturned.
As a result, six people were killed while 30 others sustained wounds. Rescuers reached the site and pulled the victims out of the overturned bus and shifted them to a medical facility.
