A Chinese new-born baby has been diagnosed with the coronavirus just 30 hours after birth, becomes the youngest person to be infected with the deadly disease.
According to Chinese media, the child was 30 hours old when doctors at Wuhan Children’s Hospital diagnosed the virus.
The doctors said that the mother was tested positive before she gave birth, adding that it is unclear how the disease was transmitted – in the womb, or after birth.
The doctors further informed that the baby was suffering from shortness of breath and a chest infection, adding that the condition of the child was being closely observed.
The death toll from the coronavirus in China rose to 563. Outside of the country 230 cases have been reported in 27 different countries.
