QUETTA / LAKKI MARWAT: At least three people were killed and seven others injured in two separate grenade attacks in Balochistan’s Chaman district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, police said on Wednesday.
The attacks came days after Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) spoke of killing at least 32 terrorists in IBOs conducted on the night of July 28 and 29 in Khyber district and in Nushki district of Balochistan.
Lakki Marwat Incident:
In the first incident, a grenade exploded inside a house in Bahram Khel area of Lakki Marwat. Police said a man identified as Rashid, his sister-in-law and a young nephew were killed in the blast, while three children were injured.
Police said no case has been registered yet and an investigation is underway to determine the motive and those responsible.
Chaman Incident:
In the second incident, unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade at labourers working on the construction of a national highway in Chaman.
According to police, the labourers were asleep at the construction site when the attack occurred. One labourer was killed on the spot while four others were injured.
The injured were shifted to Quetta for medical treatment. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
Police said separate investigations have been initiated into both incidents.
