LAHORE: At least 12 people were killed and eight others injured when a dumper truck collided with two passenger vans near Gujranwala on Friday morning.
Police said the incident occurred on Hafizabad Road near Kot Ladha area. The vans were carrying passengers from Sargodha to Gujranwala after visiting a shrine. The injured passengers were shifted to Hafizabad and Gujranwala district headquarter hospitals.
Police said preliminary information about the accident revealed that the speeding dump truck collided with two passenger vans one after the other. The driver of the truck fled after the accident.
On Wednesday, at least 15 people, including a woman and a child, were killed when a truck and a passenger van collided on the Indus Highway near Sann.
According to the report, the passenger van was heading towards Karachi from Kandiaro Town of district Naushehroferoze in which more than 20 people were on board.
The bodies of the killed passengers and the injured were shifted to Manjhand Hospital where medical aid is being provided to the injured persons. Police said that 15 people were killed in the accident and 13 of them were shifted to Manjhand Hospital.
Jamshoro’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fareed Din Mustafa said that 15 passengers had lost their lives in the accident while 7 others sustained injuries and were treated at nearby hospitals.
