A case has been registered against 11 police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO), for allegedly raiding the Lahore residence of Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan.
According to the Attorney General’s driver, Irfan, only domestic staff were present at the house when the police conducted the raid.
He alleged that the officers damaged flower pots outside the residence and took away the CCTV surveillance system when they left.
He further said that when Attorney General Mansoor Awan returned home after attending a meeting, the police came back after deleting the CCTV footage and returned the DVR.
According to police, a team led by the SHO of Sarwar Road Police Station entered the Attorney General’s residence by climbing over the gate at around 6pm on July 27 and allegedly harassed the household staff.
Police said the raid resulted from mistaken identity, claiming they had received information about the presence of suspected criminals in the neighboring house but inadvertently entered the Attorney General’s residence instead.
An FIR has since been registered against the SHO of Sarwar Road Police Station, Irfan, and 10 other police officials. According to the FIR, the officers exceeded their legal authority during the raid.
Meanwhile, the SHO has obtained interim bail from a court.
