ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari will appear in the accountability court today in the ToshaKhana reference.
Accountability court judge Syed Asghar Ali will hear the case. There is a heavy police presence outside the court. Police have detained Farhatullah Babar, Nawabzada Iftikhar, Sardar Latif Khosa, and Dr. Fauzia Soomro and did not allow them to proceed to the court premises.
PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Humayun Khan is also present outside the court while the workers were stopped by the police at Srinagar High.
Asif Ali Zardari has reached Islamabad to appear before the accountability court and a consultative meeting of the party was also held last night. On the other hand, NAB Rawalpindi has written a letter to the administration and police to strengthen security arrangements.

According to the records submitted to the court by the NAB, Asif Zardari as President received vehicles from Libya and the UAE as gifts. He used these vehicles for personal use instead of depositing them in the treasury and paid 15 percent of the vehicles through fake accounts.
The accountability court also issued an arrest warrant for the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana reference at the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to NAB, the accused have committed corruption under sub-sections two, four, seven, and twelve of section nine A of the NAB Ordinance.
