LAHORE: Police have declared that a woman who levelled serious allegations against Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam did not provide concrete evidence to support her claims.
The investigating officer (IO) probing the allegations submitted a report in the session’s court on Tuesday. The report said that an application to register a case on the woman’s accusations had been filed in 2017.
The report requested the court to wrap up the complaint under the provisions of the constitution as it does not seems as if the woman’s allegations were not substantiated.
The woman identified as Humaiza Mukhtar raised allegations against Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam of sexual exploitation and violence. She has filed an application in a session court while another application has been filed against Babar Azam’s family for harassment.
The woman filed a case against harassment and sued the complaint against defamation. The case has been filed against Babar Azam, Muhammad Azam, Faisal Azam, Kamil Azam, and Muhmmad Naveed who has been named as respondents in the application.
The woman claimed that and she had given an application to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore against Babar Azam but no action was taken. She said the cricketer’s family was harassing her and urged the court to restrain them.
Babar Azam has been accused of sexual abuse, violence and financial fraud. The woman claimed that she was Azam’s neighbour and old schoolmate, adding that the cricketer tricked her into marriage.
She alleged that Babar Azam had tortured when she asked him to marry her. She claimed that she financially supported Azam when he was struggling with his career. She said the PCB did not lodge a complaint and claimed that it was a personal matter.
The woman’s lawyer said that an FIR had been lodged with the CCPO Lahore regarding the matter but no action was taken. Hamiza’s petition is now pending at the Sessions Court, which is scheduled for a hearing on December 4. The sexual harassment case will be heard on December 5.
