Will announce massive package for construction industry tomorrow: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he would announce a massive package for the construction industry tomorrow (Friday) in order to maintain the economic activity amid coronavirus pandemic.
The announcement came during a ceremony in connection with the distribution of one hundred billion rupees tax refunds amongst the businessmen.
PM Imran said, “The federal government has decided to open the construction industry and will also provide necessary incentives to them,” adding that necessary SOPs would also be developed to ensure the safety of the workers.
The Prime Minister further said that the commerce ministry has also framed a list of industries that can be opened in the current situation.
He also said that promoting industries and giving incentives to the business is important to take forward the country, adding “The refund of one hundred billion rupees today to the business community is part of that process,” he stated.
PM Imran assured that the commerce and the industry ministries were in constant touch with the business community in order to make a strategy to overcome the challenges pose by coronavirus.
Referring to poor people, PM Imran said that the weaker segments of the society are at greater risk amid coronavirus pandemic, adding that the government was trying to reach out to them under Ehsaas program.
The premier also announced that a cash grant of twelve thousand rupees each would be given to twelve million poor families to protect them from the negative impacts of coronavirus.
Commenting on the coronavirus situation, PM Imran expressed satisfaction that the trajectory of coronavirus in Pakistan is not like that has been witnessed in other countries. PM Imran was also confident that Pakistan would able to overcome this problem.
