Hum TV’s drama serial ‘Ishq Murshid’ featuring Bilal Abbas and Durefishan Saleem, which is ruling the audience’s heart with each episode, is coming to an end but can you imagine another actor playing Shahmir Sikandar’s role?
Directed by famous director Farooq Rind, the drama was written by Abdul Khaliq Khan and produced by Moomal Entertainment & MD Productions.
Recently, Abdul Khaliq Khan, the writer of Ishq Murshid in an interview on ’Something Haute’ hosted by Hassan Choudhary revealed that Bilal Abbas Khan was not his first choice to play the role of Shahmir Sikander, the protagonist in the series.
He also disclosed the names of male leads who were being considered for Shahmeer’s character by him. For Shahmir, the makers had many names in their minds because they wanted to have the popular actors for the 8:00 pm slot. After all, the hit actors usually get the attention of the audience.
“We considered Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Wahaj Ali, and Bilal Abbas for the main lead,” Khan said by adding, “Ahad Raza Mir asked for the complete script, which wasn’t possible and Hamza Ali Abbasi was busy with ‘Jaan E Jahan’”. Talking about rejecting Abbasi, Khan said, “Although, I wanted him to be in it as I was imagining him as Fazal Baksh and politician Shahmeer.”
Talking about Wahaj Ali, the writer said that at that time, the actor was already doing ‘Tere Bin’, so the makers didn’t try for him much, although he was approached. All four were approached but luckily Bilal Abbas was the one who had the better understanding of the script, according to the writer.
Khaliq Khan while praising Bilal Abbas said that he just read the initial episodes and understood the character, which helped the makers of the drama a lot. Talking about Durefishan’s character, he said that Durefishan’s name was suggested to him by Siraj-ul-Haq and they all were agreed to it.
‘Ishq Murshid’ features the beautiful love story of Shahmeer and Shibra.
