A 13-year-old girl was found dead in Korangi on Thursday night, police and rescue services said.
A spokesperson from the Edhi Foundation reported that the girl was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her residence in Bilal Colony.
Contrary to this, a police spokesperson suggested the possibility that someone had hanged the girl after subjecting her to criminal assault. He noted that the height of the room’s ceiling made it seemingly improbable for the girl to have committed suicide.
The body was transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal procedures, where a post-mortem examination confirmed the girl had been raped, as stated by the police surgeon in Karachi. Dr. Samia, the police surgeon, determined that 13-year-old Sana died from strangulation.
Following the post-mortem, the family members of the girl retrieved the body and departed for Nowshahru Feroze. “My daughter committed suicide; I refuse to accept the claims made by the police and the surgeon,” said the father, Anwar Barro.
According to reports, the girl’s mother had temporarily left the house to run errands while two children remained inside. They recounted that their sister had locked herself in the room and hanged herself, as recounted by the girl’s father, Anwar Barro.
Sana, a 13-year-old student in the sixth grade and a resident of the area, was the eldest of four siblings.
The police have filed a case regarding the incident at the Korangi Industrial Area police station.
