The Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszkova clinched the coveted Miss World 2024 title on Saturday at a grand event held in Mumbai, India, amidst 111 attractive contestants from various prominent countries.
Pyszkova is the second Miss World from the Czech Republic after the 2006 pageant winner Tatana Kucharova. According to the official Miss World website, Pyszkova is a Czech model pursuing separate degrees in law and business administration.
In her 20s, Pyszkova is also the founder of the Krystyna Pyszko Foundation. The multilingual model, fluent in English, Polish, Slovak, and German, is an advocate for sustainable development through education.
“Her proudest moment was opening an English school for underprivileged children in Tanzania, where she also volunteered. She enjoys playing the transverse flute and the violin and has a passion for music and art, having spent nine years in an art academy,” reads Pyszkova’s profile on the website.
Krystyna Pyszkova’s height is reportedly 180 cm and she has command over the English, Polish, Slovak, and German languages. After Tatana Kucharova, who won the Miss World pageant in 2006, Krystyna became the second Miss World from the Czech Republic. She is pursuing her two degrees in Law and Business Administration.
India, which hosted the event after 28 years, was represented by 22-year-old Shetty. Mumbai-born Shetty, crowned Femina Miss India World in 2022, was bested by Zaytoun, who claimed the last spot in the top 4 of the competition.
Miss World is widely viewed as the oldest international beauty pageant, first founded in the United Kingdom in 1951 as a “bikini contest.” Perhaps its two best-known winners are both from India: the actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Miss World 1994) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Miss World 2000). Chopra Jonas appeared at the pageant in a video message, paying tribute to both Miss World owner Julia Morley and Nita Ambani, winner of the pageant’s Humanitarian Award.
Pyszkova replaces the outgoing Miss World, Karolina Bielawska, of Poland, whose reign dates back to March 2022. (Due to scheduling issues, no Miss World pageant was held in 2023.)
