The Islamic Resistance Movement of Palestine (Hamas) has launched a sudden and organized attack on Israel, which they have named “Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.” They have targeted several major Israeli cities, as detailed below.
According to the prominent Arab news agency Al Jazeera Arabic, using a map, Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, has highlighted prominent Israeli targets.
According to the Al Jazeera report, the Qassam Brigades have targeted both large and small Israeli cities, including Sderot, Zikim, Netivot, Kissufim, Deir al-Balah, Khan Yunis, and Ashkelon.
In addition to these cities, Hamas fighters have fired rockets at several other Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, Lod, Ashdod, and Eilat.
The strength and organization of this attack by Hamas are notable. Arab military analyst General Wasef Erekat has commented that the Qassam Brigades have launched a highly organized and powerful attack, suggesting that it doesn’t appear to be the work of a non-state military organization but rather seems like an attack by a regular military force from another country.
He mentioned that because the Israeli military is currently facing morale and ethical issues, they were unable to effectively counter this sudden and organized attack by the Qassam Brigades.
Erekat further stated that Hamas has achieved a psychological victory in this conflict, as Israeli analysts are acknowledging the strength and capability of Palestinian resistance. He mentioned that this attack has instilled fear in their hearts.
It should be noted that the “Al-Aqsa Field” operation against Israel began on Sunday morning, October 7th, with the announcement made by the Chief of Staff of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed al-Deif. This operation has been described as the largest attack on Israel by the Al-Qassam Brigades in several years.
