The creators behind the series ‘Stranger Things’ Matt and Ross Duffer recently revealed that season 5 would be its last.
Stranger Things is undoubtedly one of the most popular shows on Netflix. Here’s everything we know about Season 5 of Stranger Things so far.
Stranger Things
Set in the 1980s primarily in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the series centers around numerous supernatural events occurring around the town, specifically around their connection to a hostile alternate reality called the “Upside Down”, after a link between it and Earth is made by a government child experimentation facility.
The show was originally called ‘Montauk’ and took inspiration from an alleged US Military program named The Montauk Project which, legend has it, including experiments on children involving mind-reading, mind control and time travel.

The series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Dacre Montgomery, Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, and Brett Gelman.
Jamie Campbell Bower, Joseph Quinn, Eduardo Franco, and Cara Buono also star. Tom Wlaschiha, Nikola Đuričko, and Mason Dye appear in recurring roles.
Considering that nearly three years passed between the debuts of the third and fourth seasons—which was partially due to the pandemic—you have to wonder if Stranger Things won’t return until 2023. If the Duffer Brothers are planning anything remotely close to the scale of Season Four, it’ll most definitely take a while to film.
When will season 5 release?
The good news: Stranger Things 5 is definitely happening. The uncertainty: because filming hasn’t begun, it’s unclear when it will air. We’re hoping for a late 2023 air date, though this may be optimistic, especially if the final season goes as big as Season 4.
What will happen in Season 5?
Duffer Brothers have revealed that a time jump might take place between the seasons to help complete the story. According to makers, there are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.
