GUJRANWALA: Young weightlifter Talha Talib, who gained the fifth position in the 67kg category at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, has reached his hometown.
Upon his arrival in Gujranwala, Talha Talib was given a warm welcome. On this occasion, the citizens including relatives and friends made him wear garlands and sprinkled flowers at him. People also performed a spectacular fireworks display to welcome Talib on his arrival in his hometown after attending the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
While talking on the occasion, Talha Talib said that after 45 years, I am very happy to see a Pakistani weightlifter participate in the Olympics. He said that even after securing the fifth position, the love shown by the nation has raised his spirits. “I will do my best to win a gold medal in the future,” he said.

To a question, Talha Talib said that so far no government official has made any contact. He further said that no reward has been announced by the government. He shared that he has been working in WAPDA since 2012 but has not been regularized yet. He said that he was grateful to everyone for the warm welcome he received in his hometown and home.
Talha made his first appearance at the Olympics, previously earned a gold medal for Pakistan in the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Championships in Penang, Malaysia. Whereas he also won a silver at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia in Samoa.
