To ensure the safety and security of pilgrims, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has restricted entry to Makkah for individuals holding visit visas during the upcoming Hajj season. This restriction is in effect as Hajj begins today and continues until June 21, 2024.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the ministry has stated that visit visa holders are not permitted to perform Hajj. Visit visa holders without permission for Hajj are advised to avoid traveling to Makkah during this period to avoid penalties as per Saudi regulations.
The ministry also noted that security and organizational measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of authorized pilgrims during the Hajj rituals.
Moreover, the Saudi Fatwa Council has banned performing Hajj without a permit to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims. Since May 4, Saudi residents have also been required to show permits to enter Makkah. Pilgrims have been advised to carry their identification cards at all times during the Hajj period.
Authorities have already begun implementing security and organizational plans to safeguard the guests, allowing them to perform their rituals securely.
