LAHORE: A video of a family enjoying a meal at Packages Mall’s food court while their domestic help sat on the floor right next to them has been making rounds on social media.
The post was then also shared on Twitter and criticized the family for making the minor maid sit on the floor.
A child ‘maid’ has been spotted at Packages Mall Food court, who has been made to sit on the floor whilst being there with her employers
This is very common in urban Pakistan. We have been seeing decades of CLASS APARTHEID with unsaid ‘rules’ such as:
1. The domestic worker… pic.twitter.com/LIN0UuisQr

The user claimed that this practice was very common in urban Pakistan. As per him, Pakistanis have been seeing decades of class apartheid with unsaid ‘rules’ such as:
- The domestic worker cannot sit on chairs/sofas but has to sit on the floor in their employers’ presence.
- Domestic workers can’t eat from the same plate, drink from the same glass, or can’t *dare to* eat from the same fridge as their employers.
- Domestic workers are always presumed to be the ‘thieves’ each time something goes missing.
The post has been retweeted over 500 times until now. Many social media users highlighted the incident and pointed out the mistreatment.

Don’t let this momentum break. Now make the family viral – underage employment is ILLEGAL.
Identify these criminals.

There is one other context to it. Why don’t we see such actions as human rights violations as it is the most direct humiliation of a human being. HR activists always talk in a political context or child labour which is good but the HR should start from here
