NEW DELHI: A video of a police officer abusing and torturing Muslims while offering prayers in India has gone viral, as a result of which the sub-inspector was suspended.
According to the details, there was mistreatment of Muslims praying in the Inder Lok area in the Indian capital, New Delhi. The Indian police swung into action after a video of the torture of worshipers by a sub-inspector of the Delhi Police surfaced on Friday.
The sub-inspector has been suspended after the video of the SI involved in the incident came out. On Friday, when a large number of Muslims arrived to offer prayers, they started offering prayers on the street due to a lack of space in the mosque.
Indian media said that DCP Manoj Kumar Meena said that the action against the SI and the post-in-charge has been suspended immediately. After the traffic has been opened, the situation has returned to normal.
In the incident that took place in the afternoon, traffic jammed on the road due to worshipers offering prayers on the road and the SI responsible for the incident along with the local police also reached the spot. The SI kicked away those offering prayers and forcibly dragged some people away.
When the incident of abuse came to light, some people made a video of the incident which quickly went viral on social media. A large number of people gathered on the misbehavior of the SI involved in the incident and a mob formed under the metro station. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
