For the first time in the history of Punjab, a utility store has been opened in a jail for prisoners. Under the agreement, the Utility Stores Corporation will establish utility stores in all the jails of Punjab.

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the utility store for the prisoners during his visit to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

The establishment of a utility store will end the decades-old exploitative system of the prison canteen. Prisoners and prison employees will be able to buy quality items at cheap prices from the store.
