A famous Bangladeshi cleric has issued a fatwa against people using Facebookâs ‘haha’ emoji.
Ahmadullah has a huge online following, he has more than three million followers on Facebook and YouTube.
However, earlier this week, he posted a three-minute video in which he explained the mocking of people on Facebook and issued a fatwa against it through an Islamic decree, explaining how it is totally forbidden for Muslims.
âNowadays we use Facebookâs haha emojis to mock people,â said Ahmadullah. Interestingly, the video garnered more than 2 million views. âIf we react with haha emojis purely out of fun and the same was intended by the person who posted the content, itâs fine.

âBut if your reaction was intended to mock or ridicule people who posted or made comments on social media, itâs totally forbidden in Islam,â Ahmadullah added.
âFor Godâs sake, I request you to refrain from this act. Do not react with âhahaâ to mock someone. If you hurt a Muslim he may respond with bad language that would be unexpected,â he said in a video.
