Ashok Swain, chairperson of UNESCO has voiced his thoughts on the difference in morality between Pakistani and Indian celebrities and lauded Pakistani actors for condemning Jaranwala.
On August 16, 2023, several Christian families had to flee violent Muslim mobs that were after the blood of two young Christian brothers. Some locals had alleged that several desecrated pages of the Holy Quran had been found near a house at Cinema Chowk in Jaranwala.
Following the incident, many Pakistani celebrities condemned the attack and Mahira Khan was among them condemning the incident openly on social media.

This caught the eye of Ashok Swain, chairperson of UNESCO who voiced his thoughts on Mahira’s tweet in which she shared the pictures and with a tweet ‘shame on us’.
While pointing out the difference in mortality between Pakistani and Indian celebrities, Swain wrote that Pakistani film actors have a spine, and Indian actors on the other hand only know how to count money.
