Scientists from the European environmental agency CAMS have warned that there is a possibility of ‘blood rain’ in the UK.
According to reports, there has been continuous rain in various parts of the UK in recent days, and in some places almost daily rainfall has been recorded this year.
Experts say that a large layer of red dust rising from the Sahara Desert is moving towards the UK through Europe. When this red dust mixes with the ongoing rains in the UK, the color of the rain will appear red, which is commonly called ‘blood rain.’
Although this name may sound scary, according to experts, this rain is not harmful to human health. As a result, a layer of fine red soil can settle on vehicles and open surfaces.

According to senior scientist Mark Parrington, this red dust will mostly pass in the upper atmosphere over southern England. It is likely that it will reach the UK by Tuesday, and this condition may persist for about 2 hours in the afternoon.
According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the cause of this dust may also be the burning of seasonal biomass in parts of Africa, which raises smoke and particles in the air.
Experts further say that strong winds in the desert carry the dust to the upper layers of the atmosphere, and if the winds in the upper atmosphere are blowing northward, these particles can travel thousands of kilometers and reach the UK.
On the other hand, the British Met Office has also confirmed that the rains in the UK are likely to continue until mid-March.
