KARACHI: The ride-hailing app Uber has abruptly discontinued its services in five major cities across Pakistan. The services have been discontinued with immediate effects in Karachi, Peshawar, Islamabad, Multan and Faisalabad.
In a message to its driver, Uber said it had taken the difficult decision of immediately discontinuing its services in Karachi, Multan, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Islamabad.
Screenshots shared by citizens across Pakistan showed that the service was available in Lahore only.

In its message to drivers, Uber said its services would continue in Lahore, while the services of Careem cab would remain available in Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, and Faisalabad.
In its concluding remarks to its drivers, Uber said it had waived off all remaining dues as a gesture of goodwill.
