KARACHI: Two minor girls were killed and three women injured after a car plunged into a nullah in the Malir area of the metropolis on the occasion of Eid.
According to sources, the accident occurred near the airport, when a car with six persons on board veered off course and plunged into the nullah, which flows more than 50 feet down the road in the area.
The heart-wrenching accident on the occasion of Eid has claimed the lives of two minor girls aged 6- and 4-year-old, the rescue personnel confirmed details, after they reached the scene upon information, as the car fell into an open nullah.
Rescue sources said three women were also suffered severe injuries and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment.
Earlier, four persons were killed when a speeding car skidded off the road and collided with a pillar of a bridge at the University Road Karachi.
According to details, the accident occurred in front of the Sheikh Zayad Islamic Center at the University Road, where a speeding car while saving a motorcycle collided with the pillar, killing four persons on the spot.
Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to the hospital for medico-legal formalities. According to rescue sources, the deceased were identified as Ramiz, Asad, Taimor and Rohan.
