KARACHI: Two high-ranking officers of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) have shared the same employee number indicating that one of them is illegally working in the organisation.

Social activist Imran Shahzad had filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) claiming that both officers share the same MR No. which implies that one of them is fake and illegally posted.

After preliminary hearing, the court issued notices to Chief Secretary Sindh, Secretary Local Government and Director-General KDA and others to appear in court and submit their record.

The case involves Raza Ahmad Qaimkhani who is currently serving as Director Land Management KDA. He earlier served as Director Finance and came to the surface after the local government system was winding down.

Qaimkhani has served at two important posts ever since he was illegally employed in 2011. He served for three months and received salaries and was allotted MR No. 1270 in KDA records.

The same employee number is shared by incumbent Director Finance Atta Abbas. He had earlier served as District Municipal Committee (DMC) East and was sent to KDA’s pipe factory which refused to consider him as an employee of the organisation.

Interestingly, there is no record for eleven months of Qaimkhani in KDA, KMC, or any other local government organisation. There has been no probe of his suspicious employment by any investigation agency despite being highlighted by the media.
