LAHORE: Two police officers are reported to have been arrested for their alleged links to suspects involved in the killing of police officials in Lahore’s Badami Bagh, police sources said.
According to media reports, ASI Jamshed and Constable Ghulam Farid were taken into custody after an initial investigation. Both officers are currently being interrogated.
Officials said investigators found evidence suggesting contact between the two arrested personnel and the terrorist suspect Rehan Butt, including pictures of the ASI and Rehan Butt shared together on social media.
A police constable posted at the Lower Mall police station was also reportedly taken into custody in connection with the same probe.
Police said the arrested officers had links to the suspects involved in the recent attacks. The action was taken after leads emerged from the initial investigation into the killings.
Meanwhile, the father and son suspects believed to have carried out the attacks in Lahore were killed in an alleged police encounter. Police said the accused, identified as Rehan Butt and Fayyaz Butt, had shot dead three police officials and injured others during incidents in Badami Bagh and Nawan Kot.
