President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that bans transgender women and girls from participating in women’s sports. Dubbed the “No Men in Women’s Sports Executive Order,” it marks the fourth such directive targeting transgender individuals since Trump assumed office on January 20.
“The radical left has launched a full-scale campaign to erase the concept of biological sex and replace it with a militant transgender ideology,” Trump said at the White House, flanked by a group of women and girls. “With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that the order “upholds the promise of Title IX” and will require “immediate action, including enforcement actions, against schools and athletic associations” that fail to provide single-sex sports and locker rooms for women.
The order was signed on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, adding to a series of executive actions from the Republican president aimed at restricting the rights of transgender individuals.
