An attack by armed militants claimed the lives of three police officers, including a sub-inspector on Wednesday night in Balochistan, police has confirmed. The ambush targeted a police mobile van carrying officers from the New Sariab police station.
According to reports, the assailants launched a barrage of gunfire at the police personnel, resulting in the deaths of a sub-inspector and two constables.
The attackers fled the scene, and no group has yet come forward to claim responsibility for the assault. However, authorities suspect separatist groups, such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has a history of targeting law enforcement in similar incidents.
This tragic event comes amidst a growing wave of militant violence in Pakistan, particularly in the Balochistan region, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.
