The capital of Sindh and Pakistan’s largest city, the government has decided to establish passport offices in two NADRA mega centers to facilitate citizens in Karachi.
Passport services will now be available at the NADRA Mega Centre 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre Siemens Chowrangi (SITE). This initiative aims to reduce congestion at the central passport office by offering alternative locations for passport-related services.
The decision was finalized during a recent visit by Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi to Karachi, where plans to integrate passport offices within NADRA centres were discussed.
According to media reports, similar passport services will also be introduced at approximately 11 NADRA mega centers nationwide, including those in Karachi.
Earlier, during a surprise visit to Karachi’s 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defense Mega Centre, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi engaged with applicants seeking passports and ID cards. Citizens praised the efficiency of the system, expressing satisfaction with the streamlined process.
As per Nadra, since July 1, a record 3,376,510 passports have been printed, including 776,451 under the normal category, 1,896,403 in the urgent category, and 703,656 through the fast-track option.
This milestone was attributed to the dedicated efforts of the production team, who worked tirelessly to meet high demand. With the backlog cleared, citizens have been advised to collect their passports directly from regional offices without waiting for notifications, as the delivery process is now complete.
