Govinda was a superstar in the 80s and 90s, known for juggling multiple film shoots in one day. Often working on ten projects simultaneously, he had a reputation for being late, which producers often tolerated due to his immense popularity.
According to a report by Indian Express, his dance skills, acting talent, and impeccable comic timing made him a reliable star of that era. One memorable moment was when Aamir Khan, impressed by Govinda’s performance, visited a Hyderabad set to watch him act.

“It took me a while to recognize it was Aamir Khan.” Shakti went on to say, “I asked him, ‘What brings you here? Someone get him a chair and tea.’ Aamir replied, ‘I’m here to watch how Govinda nails lip-syncing and does long shots in one take. I’m his biggest fan.'”

When discussing how Govinda has changed over time, Shakti remarked, “The main difference now is his punctuality. He used to arrive at 9 pm for a 9 am shift. Now, he shows up at 8:30 am.” Shakti added, “Insecurity can push a person to improve. Now he’s very professional, and the whole industry knows it.”

In the same interview, Shakti expressed his belief that it’s never too late for an actor to make a comeback, referencing Amrish Puri starting his career at 44. Aamir Khan has often praised Govinda, even sharing in 2010, “My favorite actor is Govinda. He makes me laugh, and I love his films.”
He further mentioned, “His comic timing is fantastic, and he’s a great actor,” citing Sandwich as one of his favorite movies, which he’d watched over 10 times.
