President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are on a downward trend, with polls indicating a decline in his standing compared to previous months. In head-to-head matchups with former President Trump, Biden’s position has weakened in the latest surveys from various pollsters. While some of the movement is attributed to voters abandoning Biden, Trump has also seen an increase in his vote share in national polling averages.

Notable state-level data show Trump leading in key states like Arizona and Michigan. Additionally, Biden is facing challenges within his traditional support base, particularly among young voters. Recent polls, including one from NBC News, suggest a close race in this demographic, with Trump leading among voters younger than 35.

Biden’s approval ratings have also dipped, reaching historically low levels for a president at this point in their first term. Conversely, Trump’s numbers have been on the rise, breaking 46 percent and inching above 47 percent in recent polls.

The decline in Biden’s poll numbers is not solely attributed to recent events, such as the conflict in the Middle East. Instead, there has been a steady decline in his approval rating over several months. Despite a significant advertising campaign in swing states, Biden’s numbers have not shown improvement, and Trump is leading in various swing state polls.

It’s important to note that the impact of third-party candidates remains uncertain, and it’s too early to determine their influence on the electoral math for Biden and Trump. However, Biden’s deficit in the polls is not solely due to third-party candidates, and their presence could pose challenges for his recovery, especially if they attract support from key demographics like young voters.
