KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the temperature dropping as low as seven or eight degrees Celsius on the weekend.
The PDM recorded a minimum temperature of 11°C and a maximum of 22.2°C earlier last night in the city. The PDM predicted that the cold spell may last until December 24 in the city with average temperatures between 9°C and 11°C on most days.
Meteorological Department stated that the weather in the city could get even colder on Friday and Saturday, however, with dry and windy conditions. Sindh chief meteorological officer Sardar Sarfaraz said a cold spell has gripped the country following rain and snowfall in the upper regions. He said the temperature dropped to 11°C last two nights and is expected to go even lower in the coming days.

Earlier, severe cold and dry weather had prevailed across the neighbouring province with Quetta recording -4 degrees Celsius on Monday. The met officials said Kalat recorded -11 degrees Celsius, Sibi 6 degrees Celsius while Turbat and Gwadar experienced 9 degrees Celsius.
