KARACHI: A magnetic bomb was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) from a suspicious vehicle near the Bilawal House in Karachi.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to inspect the suspicious vehicle as fear and panic gripped the post locality near the official residence and party headquarters of the Pakistan People Party (PPP).
It was reported that two unidentified men planted an explosive device on a double-cabin vehicle oustsident a restaurant the Bilawal Chowrangi. Fortunately, no damage or injuries have been reported from the incident.
Police has immediately cordoned off the area surrounding the Bilawal Chowrangi after receiving reports of a suspected explosive-ridden vehicle.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Zubair Nazir Shaikhs said a 200-metre area has been cordoned off and people evacuated as the bomb disposal squad inspected the vehicle in Block 2, Clifton. The explosive device was defused after being removed from the vehicle. Police said they black-coloured explosive material in the device.
He said police took immediate action after receiving information of the suspicious device. He confirmed that the device was planted for an explosion on a vehicle belonging to the owner of a restaurant.
SSP South Zubair Nazir Shaikh said that the police department will release more details after getting a final report from the BDS team. Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies included Pakistan Rangers Sindh had cordoned off the area.
