ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said an effective and vibrant local government system guarantees national development.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad regarding upcoming local government elections in Punjab, he said most of people’s problems can be resolved on their doorstep through an efficient local government system.
The Prime Minister said the objective of a local bodies system is to devolve powers at grassroots level; and for its success, every segment of the society particularly women, youth, farmers and traders must have equal representation in it.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had urged the elected representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to pace up their public interaction and campaign ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
