SSGC, SNGPL proposes increase in gas prices up to 100 pct

ISLAMABAD: The gas companies – SSGC and SNGPL – have proposed hiked in basic price up to 20 and 100 percent from July 1 to next year.

According to the issued documents by the companies, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has proposed increase in price by 100 percent.

This will increase the cost of Rs 670 per mmbtu. The SNGPL consumers would bear additional amount of Rs 290 billion as a result.

The Sui Southern Gas Company has proposed 20 percent hike in basic price which will hike cost by Rs 153 per mmbtu.

In this regard, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has asked people on their opinion in fourteen days.
