The SLC said that it is not appropriate to host such a six-team mega event due to the current political and economic situation in their country.
Sources in the Asian Cricket Council said that the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has expressed its desire to host the tournament in the UAE or any other country.
However, sources say that UAE is not the final alternative venue to host the event. Asia Cup can be held in any other country including India.
