ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhar Imam will chair a special parliamentary session today to discuss a 5-point agenda via video conference.
A special parliamentary committee will gather regarding the summoning of the National Assembly session amid fear of coronavirus pandemic. The meeting would be held in Islamabad at 2 pm today.
During the meeting, the cabinet would decide the methods through which the National Assembly proceedings would be conducted. The body after mulling over the recommendations will send them to the Speaker Asad Qaiser for the final decision.
Moreover, the parliamentary committee will summon another session of Punjab Assembly on Friday. A joint declaration was released after the meeting of the parliamentary committee held under the chair of Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
He expressed concerns over the performance of the health department for containing the coronavirus pandemic. The speaker said that the parliamentary committee session is summoned in view of prevention steps devised by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The last session was held in March and attended by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, the Ministers, Mr. Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Dr. Shireen M. Mazari, Ijaz Ahmad Shah, Minister of State Mr. Ali Muhammad Khan, Chief Whip (PTI) Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, and MNAs Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan.
