PESHAWAR: More than 50 Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have reportedly formed a separate group against Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, triggering a major political shake-up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details, the development marks a significant rift within the ruling party, as internal differences among PTI lawmakers have surfaced publicly. Sources claim that the emergence of this large bloc has created serious challenges for the provincial government, particularly regarding the upcoming budget approval process.

Party insiders further suggest that even PTI founder has expressed dissatisfaction over governance and performance issues, adding to the political pressure already facing Sohail Afridi.

With tensions escalating, Sohail Afridi is reportedly under considerable political strain and has intensified efforts to stabilise his government. Sources claim he has held key political engagements, including a meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, aimed at easing the crisis.

In addition, reports indicate that Sohail Afridi has also reached out to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, seeking political support to ensure the passage of the provincial budget and maintain his government’s position.

Political analysts say the formation of a 50-plus MPA bloc represents a serious challenge for the provincial setup, and the coming days are likely to be crucial for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s political landscape.
